Justin Abraham and the “New Mystics”

For these men are not full of the Holy Ghost, as you suppose.

There is a false anointing in the church. It is prevalent among the “signs and wonders” crowd, most notably those who call themselves the “new mystics” and promote, among other things, the “drunken glory.” As I mentioned in my article on Strange Fire in pentecost we used to call this “wildfire.” Now they embrace the term proudly and even convene “Wildfire Spirit Schools.”

Justin Abraham from Wales is one of these so-called “New Mystics.” He aligns himself with mystics John Crowder and Ben Dunn. Their agenda is to divert the church with utter foolishness at the expense of the gospel. I'm reminded of the foolish Galatians, of whom Paul said were “bewitched.”

These are the folks who now claim that God is manifesting His glory – His Divine Nature- in church services as a gold or silver-like dust. To those who object, they claim that “you cannot put God in a box.” Yet God has already given us His response in His Word:

“Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man.” -Acts 17:29

This was a quote from the Apostle paul at Mars Hill. More than anyone, the people of Athens would have enjoyed the escapades of the New Mystics. Paul's reaction was to get in their face and call them to repentance.

The aberrations do not stop there. For just a small fee, you can learn to levitate, bi-locate, even do “shape shifting.”  No mention if the invisibility manifestion involves "cloaking devices" or not.

In this recording, Justin Abraham tells us that we can, through a divine impartation, breathe underwater (at 02:36). Friends, this is not biblical Christianity.

I have already written about the drunk-in-the-spirit manifestation promoted by people such as John Crowder or Carol Arnott (Toronto). Sadly, this is probably the least damaging thing taught by Justin Abraham.

I guarantee that this clip will get you laughing, but do not confuse your laughter with Holy Laughter, unless we are talking about the Godly laughter cited in Psalm 2:4. It's a long clip; I could only get through about 4 minutes of it.

Jesus plainly tells us that in the last days, you know those days that come at a time we do not expect, that “false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to misled, if possible, even the elect.” -Matthew 24:24

While there may be some gospel truth proclaimed in these meetings, we call this sort of stuff  Gospel Plus. There would not be deception in the church if truth was not mixed in with error. I can only ask- isn't the gospel – Christ and Him crucified – enough? That's all Paul wanted to know (1 Cor 2:2) . That's all I want to know.

  1. "There are people that can breathe underwater, there are people that don't sleep, there are people that haven't eaten..."

    -Justin Abraham

  2. I'd like to see that breathing underwater thing demonstrated! The proof is in the pudding as the old saying goes.

Of course, even if it would be proven to be factual, I would still want to ask where the power to do so is from.

  3. Hahaha get yourself a life !!!! Why don't you use this wasted tine on seeking God and engage the Kingdom Then all the things will be added to you as well :-)

    1. Amen this boy speaks truth! U need Jesus badly

  4. The overwhelming love of our Papa - as experienced by Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Julian of Norwich and many other mystical folk such as Sundar Singh - is really available for us all today. But one has to lay down one's own agenda to receive of and from His Majesty... Blessings on you.

  5. @Matt

Hahaha get yourself a life !!!! Why don't you use this wasted time on seeking God and engage the Kingdom Then all the things will be added to you as well :-)

Are you responding to person above your post or being silly?

And if you are serious and responding to Cheryl, what are you saying? Seeking the Kingdom first, what will be added to your life? All these things including being able to breathe under water?

  6. Matthew 6:30-33
    English Standard Version (ESV)
30But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the Gentiles seek after all these things and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

    (what things? food and clothing)

I am not sure if Matt was being facetious or serious in his statement / response to Cheryl. If he was serious then I think we need to look at the verse that he referenced and show the error of his use of it. Above is the ESV version of Matt 6 where this verse is produced.

As we look at the whole of context (Matt 6:30-33) it seems that Jesus (who is speaking here) was talking about the basic needs of everyday life such as cloths and food. NOT MYSTICAL EXPERIENCES! Food and clothing, these are the things that God will supply to His creation (mankind). He will take care of us just as he cloths the grass of the field. The context means everything here. To take verse 33 out of the context of what is written, by God through the Holy Spirit, is adding to His word.

Matt, please clarify your post. It seems to be a bit misleading.

  7. It seems amazing and saddening to me that the church is now accepting such things as levitation, shape shifting, body elongation, etc as being legitimate manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

These things have long been associated with the occult, and their source is demonic.

Yes, Philip was transported by the Spirit, but for a specific purpose to further the gospel. That kind thing is not an end to be achieved, nor is it a "proof" that God is present, in my opinion.

  8. Jonathan.. Thank goodness it's only your opinion.. If christianity were left to people like you it would never have taken off..

  9. Dear anonymous,

Thanks for showing the love of God.

Actually, Jonanthan is correct. The only sign that is to be given is the sign of Jonah.

  10. The sign of Jonah is often limited in discussions to just the three days in the belly of Sheol.

However, a comparison of the lives of Jonah and Jesus have many commonalities. For starters, Jonah was born in the vicinity of Bethlehem.

The limiting of only the sign of Jonah was spoken to "A wicked and adulterous generation."

In many places, Jesus told his followers to preach the gospel, heal the sick, and cast out devils. That commandment remains with us.

The problem with Johnson's work, and that of the other NAR evil clowns, is they put THEIR idea of "signs and wonders" above obvious contradictions in scripture.

Has anyone noticed, for example, that gold dust appears just once in scripture? The golden calf was ground into dust. Those who had taken up worshiping idols because they didn't want to wait (just 40 days) to hear from God, were forced to eat the gold dust. (Ex 32:20)

  11. Well, of the wicked and adulterous generation that seeks after signs, the only sign given to them will be the sign of Jonah, i.e. Jesus 3 days in the grave rising again.

I get very leery of those who emphasise signs to the point that they appear to lust after them.

  12. So happy the Lord Jesus led me to brother Justin Abraham! He truly knows and walks with the Lord, and walks in love and exhibits the fruit of the Spirit!

My faith has gone through the roof since discovering his teachings and I been brought into such a realm of intimacy with the Lord Jesus!

    Glory to God! Praise Jesus!

  13. Agree with the above!!

    1. so do I!! (agree with the other 2 above!)

  14. Justin Abraham is full of demons...Lord God please have mercy on him in Jesus name.

Leviticus 19:31 - Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I [am] the LORD your God.

Isaiah 8:19 - And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

1 John 4:1 - Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Deuteronomy 18:11 - Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 - When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. (Read More...)

2 Kings 21:6 - And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke [him] to anger.

Deuteronomy 18:10 - There shall not be found among you [any one] that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, [or] that useth divination, [or] an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

Revelation 21:8 - But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

2 Corinthians 11:14 - And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Leviticus 20:27 - A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood [shall be] upon them.

Leviticus 20:6 - And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

  15. Be careful, the pharisees said the same about Jesus, and they backed it up with scripture as well.

Before you judge someone, at least take the time to look for the whole story, and do not rely one someone else's sensationalism.

  16. In one meeting I went to recently with Justin Abraham, he is quoted as saying that believers "are not human" and that people in the Bible sometimes only used to live "for 1 year" after mis-quoting the often used verse which states "A year unto the Lord is like a 1000 years, and a 1000 years like a day" (sorry for the paraphrase). In-fact; there were so many wild statements I literally could not keep up when trying to write them down. People who believe this guy are blinkered.

  17. Sadly, Justin Abraham likes to edit his sermon videos before they are posted in the interweb, so many of the more outrageous statements are deleted.

  18. Man you guys are so boring and just need to find JESUS or go back to your first love. Jesus is not some boring person you make him out to be, he loves to delight in his children by showing them amazing signs and wonders, who cares if its breathing underwater GODS FUN hes our dad and creator. Jesus tells us in the bible that we will do greater things then he did, He cares about the you don't know him!! (listening to him preach doesnt count) little things because hes creative not boring. How can u say hes full of demons, stop talking about people behind there backs, its un godly and in the supernatural your only atracting more gossipers like yourself which isnt a gd thing so i would stop if I was smart

  19. HI All,
I urge all to first PRAY and ask God to give you discernment whilst viewing/listening to Justin Abraham's teachings etc... I personally have been gifted in prophecy / word of knowledge for many years now... I believe God has told me to tell Churches and Christians to ask for more discernment and teach/preach and provide development on it. The reaction I have received is very disappointing! No one seems to want to know about discernment, its like its not glamorous enough etc... Most charismatics are in to quick fixes! Sensationalism etc... They can't be bothered about true relationship with Jesus, the haw-mark of these people are arrogance (they are right, you are wrong) , frustrated (Although they consider themselves holier than you they don't know their purpose in Christ and search way out teachings to fulfill a gap they cannot fill) and chase any new fad! Also ask God for Godly wisdom everyday, the bible says:
    James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God
,who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to you.
Bless you all and I pray God will bring us all on this post to the TRUTH in CHRIST JESUS Amen!

  20. Math 13:26-30. If you think there are tares, it is not your job to pull them up. Is it possible that a person's judgement can be wrong? The accuser of the brethren always accuses the truth; why would you want to have this role when you meet our Jesus face to face? Stop being a bottom feeder and get into the presence of God and sing to Him and worship Him in your room in privacy. Talk to Jesus like you actually have an intimate relationship with Him and then you won't have time to be walking through your brethren's gardens trying to find tares. God have mercy on the bottom feeding brethren.
