The Seamy Underbelly of the Elijah List, Part II

Steve Shultz, image hosted by Elijah List Steve Shultz is the owner of the for-profit "Elijah List" which publishes whacked-out prophecies from the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation).  Years ago, I submitted an admotion stating that Y2K was going to be a non-event. Did they publish it? No. Did they publish doom and gloom, prophecies about a global melt-down and how we should prepare, and suggestions that the end was near? Yes. So much for their spiritual discernment.

Folks, the bible tells us to judge prophecies, so please do so without the fear of man.

For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house  of God. - 1 Peter 4:17

Kevin Klient  worked for the Elijah List for seven years , opened his eyes, and left. You can (and should) read his story here:

This morning I was greeted by an e-mail which appears to be from the owner of the for-profit Elijah List. In my opinion,it was not written in Christian Love, nor did it exude "the anointing."  Apparently Shultz has somehow obtained Klient's mailing list, or simply googled to see who has written about Klient in the past.

This is the "hardball letter I received:

I can see you know Kevin Klient

He has a bitter spirit.

If he doesn’t stop posting wrong and evil stuff about us, I will contact his employer  TO START. A lawsuit is not out of the question.

He can keep doing it, but slander will suffice to start.

I suggest you forward this to him. We will just keep changing him back if he does.

If he keeps it up, I have a couple more ideas too, including telling the public what I have kept secret to me! It won’t be worth his time, money or effort if he doesn’t lay off.

He doesn’t have to agree with me to stop. First move next time; his employer.

Steve Shultz

Without commenting on the merits of Shultz's claim, I would have to conclude that the message reveals a lot. And for those that ask us to look at the fruit, I would say, yes, let's look at the fruit of this commercial enterprise and the "prophets" they promote.

This is an excellent case for "fruit inspections" because you do not have to understand, comprehend or see the full picture of the complete issue. In fact, I probably disagree with Klient on many topics, but I too have arrived at the same general conclusions about the Elijah List and those they promote.

Assuming that the email is legitimate, I believe that the (real) Apostle Paul had something to say about this:

"Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. " -1 Cor 6:9-10

  1. This could very well be the beginning of the end for EL...

  2. Yeah, and if my memory serves me correctly,in that same general section of Scripture by Saint Paul, he told us that Christians should not be sueing other Christians!

  3. I'm still simply dumbfounded that this amount of apparent venom would spew forth.

A spring does not pour out fresh water and bitter water from the same opening, does it?

  4. If that is a legitimate email from Steve Schulz, I'm amazed at his poor writing skills...

  5. Very arrogant and prideful- this person is not only refusing to love and forgive, he's bullying, threatning, and harrassing in the process. COntacting Kevin's employer is illegal in this case. If EL was legit, he wouldn't care who was badmouthing it- but, he, and the EL speaks for itself.

  6. What do you think he means by:

"We will just keep changing him back if he does."

  7. I haven't the foggiest.

  8. He didn't address a single issue about what had been said about him, if the letter is legit it is interesting that he contacted you. It was also very highschool-ish in that he wants you to pass the message on, rather than contacting Klient himself, it's really laughable. Personally, I believe Schultz to be an heretic, maybe I'll get an email too?

  9. Well, the IP address in the email header checks out.

BTW, this is also worth a read:

  10. This is a probably a worthwhile read about lawsuits involving posting online opinions -

Well, first of all, Steve has to learn the difference between slander (oral) and libel (written), but apart from that he can't sue you for posting your opinions. Even if Steve disagrees with certain statements made, he has to prove they are false and he has to prove that you know their are false. I would think that's pretty tough to do based on what I've read.

You have a right to post the truth and your opinion all day long. You can't knowingly post lies and you can't threaten someone.

Most of the people reading EL won't really care one way or another. Anyone who believes that non-sense is really gullible and not discerning to begin with. Just how many times will Rick Joyner claim California will fall into the ocean killing tens of millions before rationale people stop listening? I mean, he and Bob Jones said that it would definitely happen in 1998. Well, they sorta missed it - shame for all those they convinced to sell their homes and leave. He was at it again last year after the Japanese earthquake/tsunami - basically predicting that was the beginning of the end . . . didn't happen. Now, being on a major fault line means EVERYONE is expecting it will happen one day (especially scientists), so if they keep repeating themselves, it may eventually happen. But it ain't much of a prophecy if they keep missing it is it? It's like crying wolf. Eventually, if and when you do get it right, your false alarms earlier make people not listen to you now, so you become a reason people die if and when you finally get it right.

And let's talk about Kim Clement . . . okay maybe that's too easy a target. But just how much nonsense does that man need to spew before people stop listening to it? I emailed Steve about Clement back in 2002 or 2003 after Clement predicted Bin Laden was going to be killed and all of America celebrating by that Christmas . . . yep, he missed it. I asked Steve if he would apologize and hold Clement accountable - and himself for not discerning. I got a snide response back from his wife. I will say that she apologized when I clocked her on it, but it was very immature and dismissive.

Bottom line is, I think you're doing a good thing getting the truth out, but I have to say the crowd who follows EL is probably not going to be reached by your warnings. They are a simple lot and like to believe in gold dust, angel feathers, tuning forks, portals and all manner of new age occultic practices cloaked as Godly stuff. They are the definition of the word "fools" and I say that with full intent. When prophets continually miss it and they just don't care and keep sending in their checks to hear the latest revelation and word, they are fools and deserve what they get.

  11. Without reading a single "prophetic word" from Elijah List, I could immediately tell something was amiss. Here's how: you can upgrade to their ad-free daily email option (Elijah list PLUS) where they guarantee you a daily prophetic word by email for $50 a year (NO REFUNDS!). Now firstly, how can they know for sure that God is going to have something special to say every day of the year? He was silent for 400 years once!! Secondly, no refunds? Way to be open for people to test the spirits. That no refund policy is just laughable!
